Rank Tracking API
Pull daily keyword positions for every project, engine, and location you track as structured data, straight into your own reports and dashboards.
Ask Claude about your rankings — get an answer from the real data
Connect Claude or another assistant to SE Ranking’s API via MCP and query the same rank tracking endpoints in plain language. Ask for positions, movement, and competitor comparisons without writing a single request.
One MCP, same endpoints
Daily positions, ranking history, search features, and competitor rankings run on the same API you’d call directly.
Answers in the flow of work
Pull ranking data mid-conversation or inside a pipeline, without writing the request-handling code yourself.
Skip the integration work
Point your agent at the MCP server and skip the auth, project setup, and response parsing a direct API integration needs.
Daily ranking data, ready for your reports and dashboards
Full rank tracking data via API
The Rank Tracker API returns what SE Ranking collects for your projects: positions, movement, history, and the context around them. Query it per keyword, engine, device, or date range, and route the output into reports, dashboards, and alerts.
Daily keyword positions:
Rankings for each tracked keyword, with the change against any previous check date
Top-100 rankings:
The full top 100 for a tracked keyword with the domains ranking around you, by position
Ranking history:
Positions across any date range, so movement connects to the work behind it
Search features:
35+ features (snippets, packs, panels, AIOs, and more) tracked per keyword, and whether your site holds them
Landing pages:
The exact URL ranking for each keyword, so cannibalization surfaces in your data, not your traffic
Engines, devices, locations:
Google, Bing, Yahoo, and YouTube — desktop and mobile, by country, or city
Rank tracking you can run programmatically
Rank Checker API runs the full tracking workflow, not just the readout. Set projects up, trigger checks, and pull results without opening the interface.
Set up projects at scale:
Create projects, add keywords, and assign engines programmatically. Onboard a client site without touching the UI
On-demand checks:
Trigger a fresh position check with the recheck endpoint, then pull results once it completes
Consistent JSON:
One response shape across engines, devices, and locations. A single parser for the whole portfolio
Filter at the source:
Request by engine, date range, keyword group, or top-N position, so you pull the slice you report on
Built for agency reporting workflows
Ranking data earns its keep when it reaches stakeholders in the format they expect. The API feeds the dashboards and structures reporting teams already run on.
Straight into your dashboards:
Feed positions into Data Studio, BI tools, or client dashboards. No manual exports between check dates
Side-by-side competitors:
Add competitors to a project and pull their positions on your shared keyword set for like-for-like reporting
Share-of-search benchmarking:
Use top-100 data to see which domains hold your keyword space, then track them next to you
Sub-accounts and shared projects:
Manage seats and share projects via API to give your clients and team their own views without extra manual setup
Reach SE Ranking data from any AI assistant
Connect via MCP and reach your ranking data, and the rest of your SEO and GEO metrics, inside Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any other AI tool. 1-minute setup, no exports, no code, no tab-switching.
Use cases for the Rank Tracking API
Automate client ranking reports
Pull positions, movement, and visibility for the projects you run on a schedule, and push them into the dashboards clients already read. Reporting day stops being an export-and-paste exercise, and your team's hours move from assembly to analysis.
Catch ranking drops before clients do
Compare each check against the previous period and flag any keyword that falls past a threshold you set. A drop on a money keyword becomes a same-day Slack alert, not a surprise in next month's report, or an awkward client email.
Benchmark against your search competitors
Use top-100 data to see which domains hold your keyword space, then track their positions next to yours. Share-of-search math that used to mean manual collection becomes a query against data you already have.
Push ranking data into the tools you already use
Connect SE Ranking to the tools your team already works in, without custom development or changing how you already report.

What data does the Rank Tracker API include?
SE Ranking’s Rank Tracking API returns daily keyword positions, position changes, ranking landing pages, search feature presence, and search volume for the keywords in your projects. You also get the full top-100 rankings per keyword, competitor positions, and historical data for any date range. All as structured JSON.
Which search engines and locations can I track rankings for?
Positions come from Google, Bing, Yahoo, and YouTube, on desktop and mobile. A single project can track several engine-and-location combinations at once, down to a country, or city. Rank Tracking API returns each combination separately.
How do I run a position check via API?
Set up access with your API key, then trigger a check for your keywords through the recheck endpoint. Once it completes, call the positions endpoint to pull rankings, changes, landing pages, and search features for a given engine or date range.
Can I get competitor rankings through the API?
Yes. Add competitors to a project and pull their positions on your tracked keywords through the competitor endpoints. For a wider view, the top-10 and top-100 endpoints return the domains ranking for each tracked keyword, so you can benchmark against the sites that actually rank, not only the rivals you named.
How often is ranking data updated?
Positions are checked on the schedule you set per project (daily for most teams) and each check date stays available through the Keyword Ranking API as history. Need numbers outside the schedule? Trigger an on-demand check with the recheck endpoint.
What are the rate limits for the Rank Tracker API?
The Project API accepts up to 5 requests per second per API key. Going over returns a “Too Many Requests” response; a short pause and retry clears it, but repeated overruns trigger a temporary block. So, build a small delay into batch jobs.
Can I use this API without development experience?
Yes. A ready-to-use Postman collection lets you test the endpoints without writing code, and the documentation includes worked examples. You can also connect through SE Ranking’s MCP server and query your ranking data from Claude or another AI assistant in plain language.
How is this different from the Keyword Research API?
The Rank Tracking API returns your projects’ tracked positions. Your keywords, engines, and locations are checked on your schedule. The Keyword Research API returns market-wide metrics (volume, difficulty, CPC) for any list of terms. Most reporting stacks use both: one for performance, one for research.
