Google PageRank is no longer available so we’ve removed it from SE Ranking dashboard, setting MOZ DA as a valuable substitute. Where did the PR go and what opportunities the MOZ DA provides?

Google PR is still important, but isn’t available

PageRank is a way for Google to measure the importance of website pages. And even though Google has removed it from all toolbars and online tools it is still a significant ranking factor.
Some people mistakenly believed that search system stopped counting this index, but there is a huge difference between a toolbar and a real PR metric.

Toolbar PR value was calculated using the scale from 1 to 10 that gave webmasters a general understanding of the page importance. But since the PageRank majorly depended on the quantity of the backlinks this created a field for greyhat practices. Redirecting from one page to another with a 302 redirect or “Refresh” meta tag, could make the source webpage acquire the PageRank of the destination page. So people were pointing a PR 0 page with no incoming links to a big site like Google homepage with a PR 10 which was very misleading. So Google decided to cease these practices and as consequence the the the PR Toolbar was removed.

A real PR value is calculated by the complex formula and Google is not making the results of these calculations publicly accessible. In August 2016 Gary Illyes reminded about the importance of this ranking factor which to be exact has always been kept in secret.

MOZ DA instead of PR

MOZ DA is the measurable parameter that reflects the domain authority index. In other words it shows how well a website will rank on Google. It’s score is evaluated using 1-100 points on logarithmic scale. Logarithmic (not a linear) count system means that it’s easier to grow your score from 20 to 30 than from 70 to 80.

MOZ DA parameter shows authority of the entire domain, and not an individual page as Google PR did. Moreover, over 40 signals are included in this calculation.
